Happy Halloween! There is no better time than October to learn about Whelen’s funeral lighting past.
In 1953, George W Whelen III began modifying his revolutionary aircraft beacon for use with aut. Back then, it was very common in small towns for the funeral director’s hearse to also be used as the ambulance. Therefore, many of Whelen’s first automotive products were installed on hearses.
Whelen began to design and engineer lighting for funeral processions about 25 years ago when several states began requiring escort vehicles to use purple lights. A funeral director from Maryland contacted us directly asking for lights for his hearses. We begin developing purple lenses and domes for our most popular and easiest to install products, including our Responder® Cadet™, Dash-King 2000 ™, and Mini Edge®. All our purple products featured white LEDs and purple lenses and domes.
The first time Whelen showcased our purple products was at the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) conference in Boston, MA. The Whelen booth was so busy that it was impossible to step away and explore the show. We handed out purple bumper stickers that said, “Whelen puts the FUN back in FUNERAL.” We’re dying to see if anyone out there has one of these bumper stickers.
While the popularity and demand for funeral lights were short-lived due to changing laws, you can still find purple Whelen lights in several states. Have you seen any where you live? Let us know on social media.

一：書(shū)架式揚(yáng)聲器
關(guān)于書(shū)架式揚(yáng)聲器的使用,只要和落地式揚(yáng)聲器進(jìn)行比較就可以清楚它的定位了,例如在聆聽(tīng)距離上,書(shū)架式揚(yáng)聲器需要更靠近的距離,大約在2-3米以內(nèi),同時(shí)書(shū)架式揚(yáng)聲器所能夠還原出來(lái)的聲音能量一般,在聆聽(tīng)一些較為復(fù)雜和多編制的音樂(lè)時(shí),聲音的能量感和細(xì)節(jié)就會(huì)出現(xiàn)質(zhì)量下降,另外書(shū)架式的揚(yáng)聲器主要采用二路分音的設(shè)計(jì),所以在低頻的表現(xiàn)上并沒(méi)有落地式揚(yáng)聲器那般來(lái)得扎實(shí)有力.

落地式揚(yáng)聲器一般采用了較多的發(fā)聲單元,因此在使用上更適合在面積較大的空間中擺放,而且觀眾的聆聽(tīng)位置與揚(yáng)聲器之間的距離可保持在5米以內(nèi),不僅能夠充分感受到揚(yáng)聲器所帶來(lái)的規(guī)模感和聲音力量,聲音的定位感和細(xì)節(jié)表現(xiàn)也更為出色.另外落地式揚(yáng)聲器擁有更大的低音單元,在低頻的瞬態(tài)反應(yīng)速度和低頻質(zhì)量上也是其他揚(yáng)聲器產(chǎn)品所不能比擬的,大部分的落地式揚(yáng)聲器都會(huì)采用三路分音的方式進(jìn)行設(shè)計(jì),因此在連接性能、聲音重放上有更為細(xì)膩耐聽(tīng)的表現(xiàn).
三:掛壁式揚(yáng)聲器Whelen 揚(yáng)聲器 SA315P
這里所說(shuō)的掛壁式揚(yáng)聲器,其實(shí)由兩個(gè)部分組成部分就是那些專門(mén)搭配高清平板電視所使用的SoundBar設(shè)備.這類產(chǎn)品可以通過(guò)依附著平板電視來(lái)搭載一個(gè)迷你型的環(huán)繞聲系統(tǒng),由于其外形小巧和低調(diào)沉穩(wěn)的造型,十分適合那些面積在10平方米以內(nèi)的視聽(tīng)空間使用,例如客廳、小書(shū)房、臥室等等地方.同時(shí)掛壁式揚(yáng)聲器也有另外一種形態(tài),就是衛(wèi)星環(huán)繞揚(yáng)聲器,這類產(chǎn)品以小巧的外形而著稱,體積也就一個(gè)拳頭般大,可以適合安裝懸掛在墻壁上.這兩類產(chǎn)品大的區(qū)別,就是前者可以安裝多個(gè)不同的發(fā)聲單元,而后者則多數(shù)采用兩個(gè)或一個(gè)發(fā)聲單元.這兩種掛壁式揚(yáng)聲器都擁有一個(gè)共同的特點(diǎn),那就是在低頻的還原上有著一定的缺陷,因?yàn)樵谫?gòu)買(mǎi)這類產(chǎn)品時(shí),商家一般都會(huì)搭配一個(gè)超低音揚(yáng)聲器進(jìn)行套裝銷(xiāo)售,用以彌補(bǔ)低頻聲音的不足.這類產(chǎn)品也是多影音愛(ài)好者選用的客廳影院配置方式.Whelen 揚(yáng)聲器 SA315P
